On a chilly winter morning, 9 puppies made their grand entrance into the world! Three males and six females!
Our puppies were born in working dog conditions out in the goat barn. We experienced unseasonably cold conditions in Tennessee, so the puppies were given supplemental heat in their whelping pen until they could regulate their body temperatures. We believe their first sensory development begins among their livestock. The first sounds, sights, and smells will be among the goats, barn cats, and poultry.
Their location in the barn is the first step in LGD training! We want the bond to livestock to start at an early age.
As they mature, under the careful eye of their dam, they will have supervised visits among the various livestock.
We will observe and monitor the LGD developments in each puppy to ensure they go to the right farm! Each has a unique personality and traits, and we are excited to discover what each puppy is capable of
As the puppies get older, they will learn the ropes of what it takes to be an LGD under the watchful eye of our other Maremma LGDs. Each of our Maremmas has its own way of guarding. Our LGDs work different pastures & may not all guard the same livestock at the same time.
If you are interested in learning more or would like to purchase a puppy, please get in touch with us. These are working dogs and are NOT pets. If you are looking for a companion pet Maremma, then we are not the farm to contact. We believe that Maremma's fail to thrive cooped up in apartments or postage-stamp suburban communities. As with every breed, exceptions exist, but we place puppies where they will thrive as an LGD.
Our farm is constantly evolving and we like to share with followers new and exciting information
