In 2021, we delved into raising pigs. Mangalitsa pigs are a fun and interesting breed. Quite docile and slow growers. We do not unnecessarily treat with antibiotics nor vaccinate. These are quite a hardy breed that makes life easier for the novice pig farmer!
Mangalitsa piglets are born with stripes. As they mature, the stripes give way to dense, curly fur.
Many have told us these piglets look like feral piglets. HAHAHA
To handle our weather, pigs use their environment to adjust their body temperature. This is why straw and hay bales help keep pigs warm in the winter, and the mud keeps them cool in the summer. Pigs have very few sweat glands. Our pigs LOVE mud pits!

Our Mangalitsa are purebred.
Relatively new pig in the US - imports from Hungary arrived in the '90s.
This breed is a slow-growing lard pig that hits optimal slaughter weight between 12-18 months old.
Our largest pig to date was live weight 482 lbs.
Piglets are naturally curious and apparently brave in groups.
This video is of Patsy Swine's 5 of the 7 piglets. (The remaining two are just too chunky to squeeze out of the fencing)
These naughty piglets have been sneaking out to play in the pastures and creek runoff. After the video's conclusion, much to the piglets' dismay, we fixed the fencing.
We have litters of piglets that have arrived in November 2023, and are expected in the upcoming weeks.
If you are interested in learning more or would like to purchase a piglet, please contact us. PLEASE contact us asap if you want an intact male piglet - we do castrations to all males, so it is imperative to contact us to reserve a boar.
